Dory is finally home! What a long, weird trip this has been. There is so much to write about everything that happened, both good and bad, and about all the wonderful people who pulled together so that Dory could finely get to her new home here in Scotland. But, yesterday and today were meant for enjoying our time together, and there was also the little matter of 10+ hours of driving in the last 2 days (one way in the POURING rain!). I will get to writing the saga soon. Suffice it to say that I couldn't be happier that she is here. I also couldn't be more thankful to those of you who are my champions - Steve and Connie, Lana, Colleen and Tim, Dr Mario, John and Kay - and of course my whole family...........I love you all!
This is a little video compilation of Dory and me greeting each other, (finally), at John and Kay's house. Then of her freezing in terror trying to get up some very steep and slippery stairs. And, finally, of her mastering the stairs at our flat in Gullane. Once we get to North Berwick in September it won't be such an issue, but until then, she's going to have to get used to a lot of stairs.
The following gallery of photos are from her first time at the beach since she was a wee pup. Now, I've gotta tell you that I have never, after living on ranches for over 30 years, had to pick up poo with a poo bag - that's what shovels are for. I was all prepared with my little bags at my side, and ready to be a good citizen and do my duty by taking care of my dog's doodies, but.........I didn't need to. Not because she didn't go, but because when nature called, Dory went out into the water to do her business! Nothing I can do about that but laugh with everyone else!
Welcome Home, Dory!! I know you're going to love it!
